What’s new?
DMPE 4.2 is a full release for customers that use Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2.x, 3.x and 4.x. This release is provided for US English, UK English.
Fixed issues in DMPE 4.2 and 4.2.1
- The online help now includes instructions for using the import and export profiles features to back up and restore user profiles.
- The DMPE splash screen now includes the full version and build numbers for the Dragon product. For example, ‘Version 4.2, Build 15.40.350.062’.
- 4.2.1 – When using the Dictation box in hidden mode, the Dictation box will now better transcribes and transfers your dictated text
Full install or service pack
To install DMPE 4.2:
- Run Full 4.2 Install over an existing installation of DMPE 2.x and 3.x.
- Run Service pack 4.2 over an existing installation of DMPE 4.0 or 4.1.
- Run HotFix 4.2.1 after installation for dictation box fix

Command enhancements
You can now say “Show Links” to see all links on a Web page that you can click by voice.
Dictation enhancements
Closing the Dictation Box. When a user attempts to close the Dictation Box, and the Dictation Box contains text, Dragon displays a message that asks the user to confirm that they want to close the Dictation Box.
Citrix support for PowerMic
You can now dictate using the PowerMic with XenApp or XenDesktop deployments of Dragon.
The Numbers and Units page includes two new options:
- Format cranial nerve numbers using Roman numerals: Inserts cranial nerve numbers using Roman numerals. For example, “Cranial nerve VI” instead of “Cranial nerve six”.
- Enable numbered list formatting: Applies formatting to items in a numbered list. For formatting options, see Format of each item in a numbered list
Numbers
When there is a leading zero in a decimal number, you can dictate the zero using “oh”.
Example: 0.5
Say: “oh point five”
Web experience – Dragon Medical Web Extension
The Dragon Medical Web extension now gives Full Text Control in Chrome and Internet Explorer, in most websites. To use Dragon in the supported browsers, you must enable this add-on.
