I have been in this industry for over 15 years and during that time I have seen the innovation, steady improvement and growing mainstream acceptance of Dragon speech recognition in New Zealand. Each updated version release has seen better acoustic and language models, more effective input devices and in recent years with the emergence of deep learning, highly effective AI adapting and growing with your use. Ultimately the direction we trust Nuance is heading with Dragon is towards a universal voice profile and virtual assistant in the cloud ready to transcribe and act on our commands for whatever device we are using, or where-ever we wish to have our transcribed notes posted.
2018 will be another great year for speech recognition in NZ as Nuance’s new releases lead us toward that holy grail.
Internationally over the last 4+ years there has been a gradual transition for Dragon’s range; from desktop individual based boxed products to enterprise-wide centrally managed, network or cloud based solutions. With NZ a small market, these changes have to a certain extent bypassed us, but that is changing. We are seeing the emergence of new products and new workflows to get the best out of speech recognition in whatever industry you work in. Many NZ industries are future proofing and provisioning their technology road-maps to include speech recognition in a quest for significant gains in efficiency, productivity and a search for faster and more natural ways for workforce’s to create growing volumes of documentation.
Beware of imitations at this time….
Many other entities are pitching speech recognition at this time but only Nuance / Dragon have been at the forefront of this technology and the number 1 selling product for over 20 years. Other solutions are promoted in NZ, but they do not stack up when compared side-to-side with Nuance’s comprehensive Dragon range.

Dragon Legal NZ and Dragon Professional Group are now available for enterprise-wide use with centralised management, easy deployment and simple license control.
