Olympus Legacy continues
Plenty has changed since Olympus unveiled the world’s first microcassette recorder — the Pearlcorder — back in 1969. But plenty has stayed the same, too. As technology has evolved, Olympus has remained in the market with dictation and digital voice recording equipment.
The D-1000 Olympus’ first fully fledged digital voice recorder, released in 1997, adopted a digital speech standard (DSS) for its recording format, which was formulated as a global standard for dictation use.
The DS-4000 in 2004, with its “true slide switch”. Contoured to the thumb for smooth control of record, stop, play and review functions all with the same switch. Every law firm in NZ must have one of these still floating around some-where.
The DS-5000 and DS-7000 in 2012 became a huge seller across the world and everywhere in NZ (Govt, Legal, Medical).
